I’ve been blogging these past few weeks about buying time. In our fast paced, dot com world, it’s easy to fritter our lives aways on the non-essentials. But we cannot recover a minute, an hour or a day spent in unfruitful pursuits. Unlike money, once lost, time cannot be recouped.
So here this week’s list of three activities we can do to make use of those minutes we spend engaging in the daily tasks of life: driving, folding laundry, cooking dinner, exercising, etc.
#1) For Moms: While cooking dinner, you can teach math at the same time. Do simple counting and measuring activities with your younger child. For older children, you can have them measure out fractions of ingredients you need for cooking.
#2) For Writers: Carry around a small notebook, like a steno notebook, and write portions of an outline, a scene or an article. By doing this ten to fifteen minutes a couple times a day, you can easily get up to an hour of extra writing in your day.
#3) For Moms: Take quick pictures and videos of your children. When you hve more time later on, put them in a memory book. (I’m doing good on the pictures and videos. Not so good on the memory book!)
If anyone has any other ideas, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll include your idea in next week’s posts (giving credit to you of course!). Also, if you leave an idea along with a blog link, I’ll include that in a future post as well.
