This week I am talking about a movie instead of a novel. If you haven’t seen October Baby, I insist that you see it soon 😉 I recently went out on a date with hubby. We intended to see The Hunger Games but the showtimes were sold out. I didn’t want to wait a couple of hours for the next available showtime so hubby suggested the next available movie: October Baby.
I never heard of the movie and I was disappointed that I wasn’t going to see my first choice, but as I sat in the theater, I knew God had set up a divine appoinentment for us to watch the October Baby, especially after recently giving birth to our daughter.
I left the movie deeply moved and in tears. (It could’ve been postpartum hormones LOL) But I had a deeper sense of the importance of parenthood and the value of a single, human life.
Here’s a blurb of the movie:
As the curtain rises, Hannah hesitantly steps onto the stage for her theatrical debut in college. Yet before she can utter her first lines, Hannah—unscripted—collapses in front of the stunned audience.
After countless medical tests, all signs point to one underlying factor: Hannah’s difficult birth. This revelation is nothing compared to what she then learns from her parents: she was actually adopted … after a failed abortion attempt.
Bewildered, angered, and confused, Hannah turns for support to Jason, her oldest friend. Encouraged by his adventurous spirit, Hannah joins his group of friends on a Spring Break road trip, embarking on a journey to discover her hidden past … and find hope for her unknown future.
In the midst of her incredible journey, Hannah finds that life can be so much more than what you have planned.
