I have to admit that I haven’t spent a lot of quiet time alone. The noise of social media and the news headlines clamor for my attention every single day. These two forces have won me over on multiple occasions. It’s made me highly distractible, and I don’t like it.
I’m longing for my quiet space again. It feels like I have to fight for my own sense of peace more and more, each and every day.
Quiet spaces allow me to ruminate on the things I’ve been ignoring. Quiet times enable me to engage in serious self-examination. If I don’t have this place to simply be, I’m prone to disorder and stale living.
This morning, I’m doing something different. I’m keeping my electronic devices out of reach so that when I first awaken, I’ll only have my thoughts at hand, not the latest social media post. I encourage you to do the same.
