The day that I’ve been anticipating for 11 years is finally here. Today, I celebrate the release of my first, full-length novel, HEALING HANNAH’S HEART.
I wrote a lot about what this story means to me during the Cover Reveal back in June. And so today, I wanted to share the Acknowledgments which I wrote in the book for all to read.
Here are the Acknowledgements for Healing Hannah’s Heart:
Sitting down to write the acknowledgements for my debut novel has been a long time coming. There were many moments in my writing journey when I didn’t think I’d get to this point. Yet here I am.
First, I want to thank God, the Author of my life and my faith. Thank you for making me the way You’ve made me.
Thank You for placing me where You’ve placed me, both in time and in space.
Thank You for gifting me with Your gifts. I hope to glorify You with them during the time I have on earth.
To my known and unknown ancestors, thank you for providing me with your DNA, your memories, your medicine, and your magic. I hope to honor you through the words I write.
To my parents, Laysander and Presentacion, the two people to whom I dedicate this story. Thank you for everything. I have no regrets, only deep love.
To my husband and my love, Daren. Thank you for helping me get to this point. Your wisdom, focus, and steady resolve have become mine as well. I’m glad to share this life with you.
To my firstborn son, Samuel. You were a baby when I started writing fiction. At the time of this writing, you’re a smart, talented, and handsome boy. Whenever you see this book, I hope that you’re encouraged to always persevere in your own life. I love you, son.
To my sweet daughter, Hannah. I named this book after you. You have such a lovely heart. Always remember that lasting healing and beauty comes from within. I love you, daughter.
To the team at Immortal Works, thank you for taking a chance on me as a writer. I especially want to thank James Wymore, Jason King, Staci Olsen, Holli Anderson, and Lindsay Clyde Flanagan. I am forever grateful for your confidence in this story.
To the writing midwives who helped me birth this story, Sandra Byrd, Erin Lindsay McCabe, and Bethany Kaczmareck. I am thankful for your insight and your confidence in me.
To my writing friends and colleagues, Piper Huguley, Vanessa Riley, Laurie Tomlinson, Dorothy Adamek, Loni Crittenden, Briana Smith, and Jen Cilia. Thank you for the conversations, the laughs, the sometimes cries, and the encouragement.
To the Writing Sisters Mentoring Group, thank you for cheering me on and encouraging me as I wrote this story. May we all see our heart-dreams fulfilled.
To Margo Stebbing, your medicine words have helped me dig deeper in my own writing. Your elder wisdom has helped me connect to my own. Thank you.
To the anonymous author who paid for my writing conference in 2017 when I was ready to quit writing altogether, thank you. I left that conference inspired to finish this story.
To Yonni McPherson, you didn’t live long enough to see this day, but I am forever grateful for your support and friendship. Thank you and continue to rest in peace.
To Kyonna McPherson, thank you for babysitting my children so that I can write. May all your dreams come true.
To Lee and Maria Hampton, thank you for your confidence in me.
To all of my patrons who have financially supported me. Thank you for taking this journey with me. This is your story too.
To the magic makers and prayer warriors who have moved mountains on my behalf. Thank you. I am forever grateful.

Aleta Dye says
My name is Aleta. I am first of all impressed that you were thankful to God first of all. That grabbed my attention. I am intrigued by the blurb. I will sign up for the newsletter, but can’t promise to always read it because of my own limited time trying to serve the Lord and still find time for writing and crafting other things, plus of course my family. May the Lord bless you with a best seller here. I’d like to know what movies you have played in. My husband and I love Christian movies, especially by the Kendricks Brothers.
Laurie Tomlinson says
I’m so unbelievably thrilled for you and honored to be one of your people. Right back at you! <3 You've worked so hard with grace, strength, and phenomenal talent, and the world is lucky to have your voice in its midst.
Wishing this book baby all the success!
