“When we love Black women, we love ourselves and the God who made us.” -Michael Eric Dyson
I’m loving myself as a Black woman. Do you love other Black women?
Or do you question their credibility and their motives? Do you see them as less than you or paint them as angry? Do you want them to explain their existence to you?
That’s what I get whenever I am in circles where Black women and women of color aren’t centered and celebrated.
However, I’m finding the warmth of other suns (to quote Richard Wright), places where I can simply exist, where I can simply be, where I can simply be loved.
