“We never know the love of a parent until we become parents ourselves” (Harriet Beecher Stowe)
Happy Mother’s Day!!
One unexpected thing I’ve discovered as a parent was the incredible love I felt for my son. To me, the love is inexplicable. I know a lot of you mothers and fathers out there can relate. Scripture says that “children are a blessing from the Lord.” One of the blessings of parenthood is the ability to experience just a tiny sliver of how God loves us. Amazing.
We spent our Mother’s Day with my mother and it was great time of fellowship and family. We ate out at a restaurant and then walked on the boardwalk. Though this is my second year of being a mother on Mother’s Day, it was still surreal to have strangers tell me “Happy Mother’s Day” while walking on the same boardwalk where I learned to ride a bike as a young girl over twenty years ago. I had a greater sense of the passage of time and generations. Moments like that make me treasure every minute!
How did you spend Mother’s Day? If you are a mother, what do you enjoy best about your role?
