Happy Monday everyone!
Since becoming an At Home Mom, I’ve often struggled with how to respond when people ask: “Do you work?” or “What do you do for a living?” With my own words, I devalued the role God had called me to during this season. For a long time, I said “I don’t work” or “I’m just a SAHM.”
But that’s not true.
I work. A lot!
Akin to a business, I am one of the Chief Executives of an Intricate Domestic Operation. I develop and train young people, balance a budget, keep a home presentable, provide nutritious meals and oversee the day to day operations of a valuable enterprise: the family.
In addition, I run two businesses and I am actively pursuing a professional writing career.
Oh…and I have to keep myself sane amidst all those various hats.
It wasn’t until I made the transition from corporate America to home that I’ve had to learn of the intrinsic value and potential in the family. Home is where it all begins. This is the place where lives are developed, relationships are nurtured and members are free to discover their unique identity and calling in Christ. (BTW, that’s part of my mission statement!)
So when people ask me if I work. I say “Yes” with confidence, with purpose.
With peace.
