Behold, God is my helper, the sustainer of my soul (Psalm 54:4, NASB)
For this last Word Wednesday post of 2011, I’m focusing on God as our helper. This is a personal theme of mine which I’m carrying into the new year.
When I first sensed, God’s unique plans for my life, I immediately shrank back from them. There’s no way I can do all that! Write full time, run a household, raise kids…and change the cat litter!
Over time, He showed me that by eliminating the non-essentials, I’d make room for His help and His grace in my life. So, I set to work on deleting activities and even relationships that bore little fruit or brought unnecessary stress. This freed me up to wak in the path He set for me. It hasn’t been an effortless path, but it has been a path of peace and stability, something I rarely experienced in times past.
So, I don’t hesitate to call Him my helper, my fortress and my rock.
What will you do in 2012 to make room for God’s helping hand in your life?
